A change of setting was obvious for the Junior Varsity Cheerleaders on Thursday, December 15, but the task at hand was the same for the group of sixteen spirited and excited young ladies from Livonia Junior High and STEM. The squad decided to visit Pointe Coupee Healthcare to spread Christmas cheer and visit with the residents as the Christmas holidays approached. The cheerleaders, who are usually loud and proud for Wildcat sporting events, changed their demeanor a bit to cheerfully sing Christmas carols to the senior citizens. The girls met with over twenty residents in the dining area while performing a melody of Christmas carols and were even able to hear a few residents join in the singing of the jolly tunes. The 7th and 8th graders ventured into the halls of the residential facility and were welcomed into many of the rooms where anxious residents were so excited and pleased to hear the carolers.

As the cheerleaders wrapped up their outing and prepared to return to their homes and await the Christmas holidays with their loved ones, it was evident that the residents gave the young ladies more of a gift than anyone could have imagined. In the true spirit of Christmas, the cheerleaders realized that it is truly in giving back to others that one receives so much love. The faculty and staff of Livonia High School send warm holiday greetings and wish the residents and wonderful staff of Pointe Coupee Healthcare a very Merry Christmas!
