Lisa Jarreau, Livonia High’s JAG-Specialist, anxiously awaits the annual Pointe Coupee Parish Council on Aging Christmas Luncheon not only to bring goodwill and holiday spirit to those in attendance, but to also provide a humbling community service experience for her students and other service organizations at her school. Junior and Senior High Jag, Student Council, Food and Nutrition, and Choir students accompanied by the Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders as well as the Prowler Dance Team spent Friday, December 3, at the Scott Civic Center proudly assisting with the community driven event. The morning began with the singing of the National Anthem by Junior High Jag Student Passion Harris. The Cheerleaders and the Dance Team, outfitted in special Christmas accessories, provided fabulous seasonal entertainment with a variety of Christmas themed dances. Members of the LHS choir offered a lovely selection of both traditional as well as spiritual Christmas melodies for the attendees. Sheriff Bud Torres also shared his outstanding musical talent with the senior citizens by singing and playing his guitar.

A delicious traditional Christmas lunch was served as the attendees dined in a sea of red and green décor. Student volunteers served as wait staff and mingled with the guests. The lunch concluded with the selection of door prize winners. In the jolly tradition of this event, the students all convened on the stage to take part in the singing of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Groups of students sang out in harmony and laughter portraying each of the days of Christmas.

Livonia High School applauds the Council on Aging for organizing such a wonderful and enriching event for the senior citizens of Pointe Coupee Parish. The students were delighted to spend the day helping with such a worthwhile cause. The true meaning of Christmas and sharing of the blessed spirit of the season was certainly imminent at the event.
