Family and Consumer Science Project Teaches Child Care Fundamentals
FCS Students learn about child care lifestyle.
Students in Mrs. Loupe’s FCS class participated in a project teaching basic fundamentals of how to care for a newborn child: the changes in one’s lifestyle and the new skills needed for healthy growth and development. The students carried a bag of flour or sugar around for one week. At the end of the week, Mrs. Loupe determined how well each student did with caring for a child and making sure it was not abused or abandoned. This hands-on assignment teaches the students how to raise a child the correct way, and what a big responsibility it is to raise a child.
