On Thursday, March 23, 45 eleventh and twelfth grade students journeyed to Hammond to tour the beautiful campus of SLU. A majority of the students attending the field trip are presently taking college courses through the Pointe Coupee Parish Dual Enrollment Program. These students are taking college courses while still in high school at no cost to the student. This exceptional program is made possible through funding provided solely by the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board.

Upon arrival at Southeastern, the students met with admissions counselors. While in a small group setting, they had an opportunity to discuss scholarship availability, eligibility requirements, and opportunities for summer programs. They attended a thorough presentation, and then ventured onto the campus for a guided walking tour. Students were also given tours of the campus housing.

Research states that students who visit prospective colleges before they actually enroll in the institution have a higher chance to be successful in their first semester. Livonia High is committed to providing opportunities for our students to explore post-secondary educational options.
