Students in Mr. Randy Jarreau’s Welding classes were able to learn from one of their own during a recent special guest presentation. Former standout welder, Evan Steib was invited to return to the campus to teach a lesson to the welding classes. Evan was invited to demonstrate the proper procedures and positioning for basic welding techniques. The students observed his hands-on demonstration of grinding and proper landing as well as gap tacking.
Evan, who was a 2003 FFA Welding Champion, attended ABC Welding School, one of Livonia’s industry-based partners and has been working in the industrial field since 2003. He informed the young students of all of the job demands in the field of welding at this time and how vital it is to get the hands-on training in high school to be ahead of the workforce upon graduation. Evan credits the intense training he received in the vocational education department for inspiring him to continue to weld and for pursuing a career in this growing field.
