Livonia High School’s Welding Department has set the standard high not only for students enrolled in the class, but also for those students who come into contact with the rural community’s program. In the multiple competitions the schools attend annually, the LHS students are well known for their craftsmanship as well as their vast knowledge that certainly extends beyond the vocational classroom setting. Instructor Randy Jarreau strives to prepare the students to be successful on the National Center for Construction Education and Research certification exams and to be career ready upon graduation.

Every year ABC Pelican hosts a craft competition for welders, pipefitters, electrical, and other crafts. This year Livonia Alumni students Andy Landry, Tyler Smith, and Hunter Gerace were three of eight welders to compete in Pipe Welding. Andy Landry placed second overall winning himself a $200 prize. Andy will travel to Long Beach, California, in March 2018 to compete at the ABC National Craft Championships. Competitors from around the country will compete against each other in their respective crafts.

The faculty and staff of LHS congratulate Andy on his continued success in his chosen career and wish him the best of luck in the upcoming National Championship.
